History

Wealden Wholefoods Co -Operative was established in 1985

Today we have 14 members – many of us you will meet working  in the shop and cafe.

Shirley Rothera , one of our founder members, had the original idea to open the shop

and later the cafe, to provide the people of Wadhurst and surrounding areas the opportunity  to buy  food that was nutritious and affordable.

Our aims and objectives remain the same today :

to provide organic wholefoods,local, and fair traded where possible

all products sold to be GMO free and free from untoward additives

suppliers to be chosen for the quality of their products as well as their ethical and environmental standards.

to keep prices as affordable as possible for the local people.

to provide a personal service which responds to individual needs where possible.

to educate and inform on food and environmental concerns

to be as green as possible

to provide a meeting place with a friendly welcoming feel for the local community.

to fully staff the business with members of the co operative.
